Influencer Tom Christopher apologises after bathtub stunt on Wales' Pen y Fan

Swansea social‑media influencer Tom Christopher, 25, carried a bathtub up the 2,907‑ft Pen y Fan summit in Bannau Brycheiniog National Park on 17 July and filled it with river water before filming a dip. After receiving hundreds of messages urging him to leave the tub for photo‑ops, he decided to keep it on the mountain, prompting public criticism and accusations of fly‑tipping.

Christopher later described the act as an “honest mistake”, said he intended to retrieve it within 48 hours, and apologized for the backlash. The bathtub was discovered the next day by Cardiff Rugby Academy players, who handed it to park officials. National Trust Cymru warned that the abandoned tub posed contamination risks to the site of scientific interest and urged visitors to follow a “leave no trace” ethic. Christopher said he might face a fine and considered doing voluntary work to cover any penalty.
