Influencer Yuli Salgado criticized for offensive comments toward search mothers

Content creator Yuli Salgado is facing widespread backlash following allegations of sending hateful messages to the ‘Lirios Buscadores’ collective, a group of mothers searching for disappeared persons in the State of Mexico.

According to the collective, Salgado responded to a request for help in spreading a missing person flyer with disparaging remarks. The messages reportedly included the statement, ‘My cat is worth more than your disappeared persons,’ and mocked the women by suggesting they could dress up as ‘lloronas’ (weeping women) for Halloween.

Karla Lechuga, president of the collective, reported that Salgado has since deactivated her social media accounts on platforms including TikTok, Threads, Facebook, and Instagram following the public outcry. The incident has sparked debate regarding the responsibility of public figures and the ongoing harassment faced by families searching for missing loved ones in regions like Cuautitlán Izcalli, where disappearance rates remain high.
