Influenza vaccines have arrived in Romanian pharmacies. Individuals seeking immunization can obtain a prescription from their family doctor to collect the vaccine.
The vaccine is provided free of charge for specific groups, including children and adolescents up to 18 years old, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, oncological conditions, or autoimmune disorders. Vaccination can be administered in family doctor offices or authorized pharmacies.
Dr. Sandra Alexiu, president of the Association of Family Physicians Bucharest-Ilfov, noted that it takes approximately two to three weeks for an acceptable antibody level to form after vaccination. She recommended starting the vaccination process from October 1 to ensure protection before the peak flu season, which typically occurs between January and February.
