Infonavit mandates electronic signatures and biometric CURP for loan contracts

Mexico's Instituto del Fondo Nacional de la Vivienda para los Trabajadores (Infonavit) began requiring the use of an Advanced Electronic Signature for all contracting activities—construction, acquisitions, rentals and services—effective 1 August. The institute says the measure speeds contract formalisation, cuts paper use, improves legal certainty and allows signing from any location.

In a separate update published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on 5 August 2026, Infonavit revised the documentation required for housing‑credit applications. The new rules introduce a biometric CURP as a primary identifier, allow electronic authorisation for credit‑bureau checks, and permit the property deed to serve as proof of address where appropriate. Additional paperwork for specific financing modalities was also updated to simplify the process.
