Infonavit updates documentation requirements for housing credits

Infonavit has updated the documentation requirements for housing credits used to purchase, build, expand, or improve homes. These changes, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), went into effect on August 6, 2026.

Key updates include new methods for identity verification, such as using the CURP linked with biometric data, provided the data is correctly validated and associated with the holder. The biometric CURP is an alternative and not a mandatory requirement; traditional identification like passports or voter IDs remain valid.

Additionally, applicants can now authorize credit history inquiries, such as with the Buró de Crédito, through electronic means or handwritten signatures. The new rules also incorporate financial education certificates into the required documentation for certain financing modalities. Regarding proof of residence, property deeds may substitute for standard proof of address in specific transactions depending on the type of financing.
