The Instituto Nacional de Formación Técnico Profesional (Infotep) held a conference titled “Formación profesional, tendencias globales y pensamiento estratégico hacia el futuro.” The event featured economist and strategic consultant Franklin Emilio Vásquez Rodríguez, who highlighted the need for professional training to become a national strategy for learning, adaptation and innovation.

Infotep’s director of professional training, Luis Beltré, explained that the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence, automation and other emerging technologies requires a more innovative, flexible curriculum. The institute is adding programmes linked to Industry 4.0 – including artificial intelligence, automation, data analysis, digital transformation, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and cybersecurity – and is strengthening dual‑training models, virtual learning environments and competency‑based certifications. The goal is to raise productivity, competitiveness and sustainable development in the Dominican Republic.
