Infraestruturas de Portugal launches 45 million euro bridge tender
Infraestruturas de Portugal (IP) has launched a new public tender for the construction of the Vimioso–Carção bridge over the Maçãs River on the EN218 highway. The project has a base price of 45 million euros, representing a 15 million euro increase from the previous tender attempt.
The new bridge will be 850 meters long, with its highest pillar reaching 120 meters. The project includes a 2.9-kilometer variant on the Carção side and is expected to reduce the Vimioso-Carção connection from 11.7 kilometers to just six kilometers.
Interested companies have until October 8, 2026, to submit proposals. The contract specifies an execution period of 900 days, or approximately two and a half years. The adjudication process will be based on a multi-factor criterion, with price accounting for 80% and quality for 20%.
