Infrakraft employee seriously injured in Lysvik railway accident

A man in his 40s was seriously injured after being struck by a piece of machinery during railway work in Lysvik, north of Sunne. According to police spokesperson Christina Hallin, the individual was not hit by a train, but rather by some form of work machine.

The accident occurred at a site managed by the railway company Infrakraft, where a major project is underway to replace tracks and switches between Kil and Torsby. Bengt Svanberg, a railway manager at Infrakraft, confirmed the victim was an employee of the company. The injured man was airlifted to the University Hospital in Örebro, where his condition was described as serious but not life-threatening.

Police have opened an investigation into the incident for causing bodily harm in connection with a workplace accident. This follows a previous fatal accident in March involving Infrakraft near Hallsberg, where two workers died after an excavator lost a counterweight.
