Infrastructure and flood relief efforts underway in Ouagadougou and Kaolack
In Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, road repair work has commenced on the main route leading to the Bonheur-ville school in District 7. The project utilizes the ‘Do-nou’ method, a Japanese technology involving the use of earth bags to rehabilitate degraded roads. This initiative, led by the association Cercle d’accueil pour le développement économique et social (CADES) with financial support from FINEC Burkina and the local municipality, aims to improve accessibility and prevent vehicles from getting stuck in mud and potholes during the rainy season.
In Kaolack, Senegal, Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Economy Amy Marra Dièye has deployed several motor pumps to combat flooding in various neighborhoods, including Lidiane, Sara Nimzatt, Sam, Thioffack, and Médina Mbaba. The equipment is intended to evacuate stagnant rainwater to facilitate movement and ensure students can access schools for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year.
