Infrastructure and policy needs highlighted by business leaders in Paraguay and Peru

In Paraguay, the president of the Paraguayan Road Chamber (Cavialpa), Paul Sarubbi, has emphasized that infrastructure development must serve as a driver for national industrialization. He noted that investments should focus on reducing logistics costs and adding value to raw materials within the country. Sarubbi estimated an infrastructure gap in Paraguay of at least USD 30 billion, potentially reaching USD 70 billion when accounting for maintenance and future demands. He highlighted the Bioceanic Corridor as a strategic opportunity to connect Brazilian production to Pacific ports through Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile, provided there is adequate investment in energy, water, sanitation, and basic services.

In Peru, Yhemina Calderón, president of the Regional Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Ayacucho (CREA), is calling for sustained productive policies and improved infrastructure. She highlighted the need for specialized assistance to help sectors such as quinoa, coffee, and cocoa access international markets. Calderón also raised concerns regarding the impact of poor road conditions on logistics costs and requested continuity for programs like Procompite to ensure stable investment planning. Additionally, she proposed the development of an industrial park to facilitate the expansion of productive activities currently located within urban areas.
