Civitavecchia infrastructure projects undergo inspection and development

Civitavecchia is seeing significant infrastructure activity as part of broader urban and maritime development plans. Roberto Petri, president of Assoporti, recently inspected ongoing works at the port, including the extension of the breakwater, cold ironing installations to reduce ship emissions, and improved railway connections to enhance logistics and freight transport.

Simultaneously, the Agenzia del Demanio has scheduled two weeks of detailed structural surveys starting Monday, October 26, at the ex Carcerette buildings and the local fish and San Lorenzo markets. These surveys are a prerequisite for the ‘Piano Città’ urban redevelopment project, which aims to improve the livability of the market area and Piazza XXIV Maggio. The inspections will necessitate temporary parking restrictions and localized traffic interruptions in various streets around the site through early November.
