Infrastructure and traffic regulations announced in Sorrento and Salerno
In Sorrento, Mayor Corrado Fattorusso has launched an infrastructure plan focused on road maintenance and urban mobility. An initial agreement will target repairs on via Capo, via Puolo, and via Parise to address road damage and improve safety. Additionally, restoration work is scheduled to begin in November on the historic pedestrian staircase connecting Piazza Tasso to Marina Piccola, which is currently closed due to structural issues.
In Salerno, the municipal government has unanimously approved a new regulation regarding the transit of heavy and exceptional vehicles. The measure specifically addresses the Viadotto Gatto, which sees approximately 1,300 heavy vehicles daily on the route between the motorway and the commercial port. The regulation aims to recover the costs incurred by the municipality for technical inspections and preventive checks required to ensure infrastructure stability and road safety.
