Infrastructure concerns raised in Catamarca and Paysandú
In Catamarca, Argentina, provincial deputy Francisco Monti has denounced the severe deterioration of the road network in the El Alto department. Following an institutional tour and meetings with agricultural producers and local leaders, Monti criticized the provincial executive for a lack of public investment and maintenance.
He specifically highlighted impassable access routes to Chalcán, Guayamba, and Tintigasta, as well as the route to Las Cañas. Monti warned that the lack of road conservation by the Provincial Road Directorate negatively impacts the livestock and agricultural sectors, which require safe routes to transport goods to consumption centers.
In Paysandú, Uruguay, nationalist councilman Andrés Giménez has formally requested repairs for a section of Vicente Mongrell Street between Sarandí and Ituzaingó. Giménez noted that while patching has been attempted, the heavy traffic from national and international cargo trucks servicing a local food production factory causes the pavement to deteriorate rapidly.
He argued that the current state of the road creates hazards for drivers, particularly during rainy weather when potholes fill with water. Giménez has requested that the area be included in a concrete improvement plan rather than relying on insufficient temporary repairs.
