Infrastructure damage reported in Venezuela and Guatemala

In Los Teques, Venezuela, a wall in the El Paso residential area partially collapsed following a magnitude 4 earthquake. The structure had been showing visible cracks since earthquakes occurred on June 24, and residents report that the deterioration continued after the early morning tremor this Tuesday.

Local residents stated they had previously requested evaluations from competent authorities without receiving a response. There is ongoing concern regarding the stability of other sections of the structure.

In Guatemala, the Coordination for Disaster Reduction (Conred) has reported severe structural damage to the Periférico bridge on the Aguilar Batres highway. An inspection revealed corrosion of the reinforcement, moisture ingress, and progressive loss of concrete coating.

Conred identified diagonal cracks, coating detachment, and failures in joints. The agency has recommended that authorities limit traffic, specifically heavy transport, through the damaged section to prevent further degradation of the infrastructure.
