Infrastructure delays in Zapatoca and expansion in Cozumel

In Zapatoca, Colombia, the Cristo Rey sports stadium remains unfinished despite reports indicating 93% physical execution. The project, which involved nearly 14 billion pesos, was originally scheduled for completion in December 2025. Local residents have expressed concern over successive contract extensions and a budget addition exceeding 329 million pesos as the facility remains unavailable for public use.

In Cozumel, Mexico, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa announced the construction of a new Poliforum. The project aims to double the venue's capacity to 2,500 spectators and will include a synthetic wood court, locker rooms, and a new cooling system. The expansion is being funded through a partnership between the state government and the cruise industry via the Trust for the Well-being of People Living in Cruise Ports.
