Infrastructure delays reported in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands, residents of Alphen aan den Rijn are facing continued delays regarding the 'Raadsbrug' bicycle bridge project. Despite costing millions of euros, the project has been postponed again, leaving bridge components sitting unused in the grass. Amidst the uncertainty, an unknown artist placed a sculpture of a skateboarding child on one of the bridge's support pillars along the N207, which has gained attention on social media.

In another Dutch infrastructure issue, a peak-hour lane on the A50 motorway between Arnhem and Apeldoorn has been closed for two weeks. Overhanging branches have obstructed the view of safety cameras, preventing traffic controllers from monitoring the lane and emergency bays. Rijkswaterstaat stated that the branches cannot be immediately trimmed because an ecologist must first assess the environmental impact, a process expected to take at least two more weeks.
