Infrastructure development projects underway in Lithuania
Lithuania is advancing several key infrastructure projects aimed at improving urban mobility and connectivity. In Tauragė, capital repairs are beginning on Stadiono Street. The project involves renovating a 330-meter section from Vytauto to Laukų Street, which includes installing new pavement, upgrading lighting, and constructing surface sewage networks to improve rainwater management. The project also focuses on pedestrian accessibility, featuring new sidewalks, tactile surfaces for the visually impaired, and lowered curbs to assist elderly citizens and families with strollers. The contract, valued at 623,150 EUR, was awarded to UAB ‘Tauragės agrotechnika’ with an expected completion time of nine months.
In Vilnius, updated visualizations have been released for the transformation of the city’s central bus station and its surrounding area. The project aims to create a modern mobility hub by consolidating city, intercity, and international bus services near the railway station to facilitate seamless transfers. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects under the ‘Green Connect’ concept, in collaboration with LAND and local engineers, the plan includes redesigned streets, new public spaces, and increased greenery to replace current chaotic infrastructure.
