Infrastructure developments and challenges in Rondônia

Infrastructure development in the state of Rondônia shows contrasting realities between different municipalities. In Porto Velho, paving services have been completed on Humaitá, Oliveira, and Lábrea streets in the Nova Esperança neighborhood. In contrast, the municipality of Vilhena faces logistical challenges despite having the technical capacity for roadwork. Although the city possesses two asphalt plants capable of serving the South Cone microregion, they are currently operating below maximum capacity due to a lack of funds for raw materials and maintenance. Local discussions highlight that without adequate state or federal budget transfers and proper deep drainage systems, paving efforts in areas like the Embratel neighborhood remain unsustainable due to seasonal rains.
