Infrastructure developments in Ananindeua and Manaus
In Ananindeua, Pará, a bridge over the Rio Maguari has reportedly begun to show signs of structural failure only days after its inauguration on September 18. Local residents have shared videos showing parts of the structure appearing to give way. The project received over R$ 2 million in federal funds, leading citizens to question the quality of materials and project execution. Additionally, residents have criticized the lack of a dedicated bicycle lane, forcing cyclists to share the road with motor vehicles. As of the latest reports, the Ananindeua City Hall has not issued an official statement regarding the structural issues.
Meanwhile, in Manaus, construction has progressed on the Parque Encontro das Águas, a complex designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer. Workers have begun the concreting phase for the project’s signature structures, which are inspired by the Negro and Solimões rivers. These “wings” are expected to reach a height of approximately 21 meters. Originally conceived in 2005, the project was resumed in 2021 and construction began in 2023. The park will feature cultural spaces, gastronomy, and observation decks designed to overlook the natural confluence of the two rivers.
