Infrastructure developments in Ludbreg and Koprivnica
In Ludbreg, the use of railway ballast for road repairs and communal infrastructure has commenced following a dispute. The material, a byproduct of the Koprivnica–Varaždin railway reconstruction, was deposited on land near a hot water spring. While some citizens filed complaints with the State Inspectorate over concerns regarding hazardous waste, laboratory tests confirmed the material is safe. Approximately 14,338 cubic meters of ballast have been recorded, and the city plans to transport and use it for infrastructure projects before restoring the land to its original state.
Meanwhile, construction of the expressway toward Koprivnica faces further delays. The 7.5-kilometer section between Križevci and Kloštar Vojakovački, being built by Kamgrad, has had its completion deadline extended to December 23, 2026, due to unfavorable hydrological and hydrogeological conditions. The project is valued at 30.6 million euros. Additionally, main projects are currently being developed for the next section from Kloštar Vojakovački to Koprivnica, with a contract worth 1.05 million euros awarded to IPZ.
