Infrastructure developments in Mielec and Katowice
In the Polish Sejm, MP Fryderyk Kapinos addressed the controversy surrounding the renovation of the Mielec railway station. Responding to criticisms from the Civic Coalition, Kapinos argued that passenger services were suspended in 2009 under the previous government, making station renovations economically unjustifiable until services resumed in 2021. He claimed the project was removed from investment lists following the change in national government but was reinstated due to social pressure. The plan aims to deliver a new station by the third quarter of 2026.
In Katowice, a major transport project has reached a milestone with the selection of Budimex to construct a new 4.6-kilometer tram line connecting Brynów to Kostuchna. The project, valued at 356.8 million PLN, aims to reduce travel time to the city center to approximately 25 minutes. The development includes a new transfer center in Kostuchna featuring parking for over 120 cars and 90 bicycles, along with integrated bicycle paths and six pairs of stops.
