Infrastructure developments in Nuevo Laredo and Ometepec
In Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, authorities have inaugurated the second stage of the MEX II highway and the MEX II bypass vehicle bridge. This project, completed after a 25-year wait, was a collaborative effort between municipal, state, and federal governments. The infrastructure is designed to improve connectivity and streamline traffic in this strategic border region, which is vital for commercial activity and freight transport.
In Ometepec, Guerrero, engineers are working to fill a large sinkhole on the Luis Hernández bypass. Work is currently focused on complementary infrastructure, including the construction and repair of gutters and curbs. According to engineer Armando Manuel López, these measures are necessary to properly channel water away from the roadbed and prevent further damage to the asphalt, as blocked drainage had previously caused water to accumulate on the road and weaken the embankments.
