The Vila Real City Council reported that the project, which addresses infrastructure damage caused by landslides and heavy rainfall earlier this year, has been awarded. The contract was signed on September 17, and work is expected to proceed over a 210-day period. Local authorities have expressed concern regarding the duration of the road closure and its impact on regional mobility.

In South America, authorities are raising alarms regarding the Bioceanic Route, a major corridor intended to integrate Brazil, Paraguay, Argentina, and Chile. While the route is expected to boost economic development, officials warn that it could be exploited for transnational crimes, such as drug trafficking and smuggling. The Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the need for coordinated security planning between the four nations to ensure the corridor does not become a gateway for criminal activities.
