Infrastructure developments underway in Ecuador and Chile

In Ecuador, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Technology has begun constructing a road bypass in the Saraugsha sector of the E30 highway (Latacunga–Zumbahua–La Maná). The project, funded by the World Bank, involves an investment of over USD 3.3 million to address structural damage caused by road platform settlement in 2025. The approximately 1-kilometer bypass includes earthworks, pavement construction, drainage systems, and slope stabilization, with an expected completion time of 120 days.

In Chile, the Ministry of Public Works has opened economic bids for the modernization of 110 kilometers of Route 57, connecting Santiago, Colina, and Los Andes. Sacyr Concesiones Chile SPA submitted the highest-ranked offer among three technically acceptable proposals. The project, estimated at UF 23,153,000, aims to improve connectivity between the Metropolitan and Valparaíso regions, serving as a strategic corridor for international cargo and passenger flows to Argentina. Planned works include adding third lanes, constructing a new tunnel parallel to the Chacabuco Tunnel, and building new bridges and cycle paths. Construction is slated to begin in 2031, with full service expected by 2035.
