Infrastructure developments underway in Grand Est and Centre-Val de Loire
Major railway and station infrastructure projects are progressing in France. In the Grand Est region, work has commenced on the Nancy-Contrexéville line with the installation of new rails in Ceintrey. This 150 million euro project involves renovating 75 kilometers of track and servicing 12 stations. The initiative, led by the Grand Est Region, aims to support local economies and ecological transition by utilizing regional industrial expertise, with 90% of track components produced within 200 kilometers of the site.
Separately, the new north forecourt of the Saint-Pierre-des-Corps station has been inaugurated. This 6.8 million euro project transforms the area into a multimodal exchange hub serving 5.7 million annual travelers. The redesign integrates trains, public transport, taxis, and cycling networks, including 180 bicycle parking spaces. The project emphasizes environmental sustainability through soil depaving, with 70% of the space made permeable, and extensive vegetation including 125 trees and over 10,000 perennials.
