Infrastructure developments underway in Pankow, Wiesbaden, and Mainz

Infrastructure projects are underway in Germany to improve flood protection and cycling connectivity. In Pankow, the bridge in Schlosspark is completely closed for reconstruction. The project, expected to last until April 2027, involves replacing the dilapidated steel structure with a new bridge designed to withstand 100-year flood levels. The construction also includes widening the Panke river to a flow cross-section of 6.50 meters and expanding the fish ladder.

In the region of Wiesbaden and Mainz, construction has begun on a new bicycle ramp at the Kaiserbrücke. This project aims to close a long-standing gap in the intercity cycling network, providing a barrier-free connection between the two state capitals. The new four-meter-wide ramp will improve accessibility for cyclists using cargo bikes, e-bikes, and trailers, strengthening the regional environmental transport network.
