Infrastructure emergencies reported in Guayabetal and Piedras Negras

In Guayabetal, Colombia, heavy rains caused sediment from the Negro and Blanco rivers to impact and collapse the El Ocal bridge. The collapse has disrupted connectivity and affected local communities. In response, the Governor has ordered the Instituto de Caminos y Construcciones de Cundinamarca (ICCUGOB) to begin studies and designs for a new structure. To ensure the supply of food and essential goods during the interim, authorities are evaluating the use of a cable car (tarabita) for transport. Additionally, an alternative route is being established through San Antonio and Conucos to connect with Gutiérrez.

Meanwhile, in Piedras Negras, Mexico, a drainage crisis has worsened on the Ruta Fiscal. Despite ongoing interventions by SIMAS, sewage overflows have created large pools of wastewater spanning nearly three blocks through the Bravo and Harold R. Pape neighborhoods. Local authorities have attributed the issue to previous infrastructure deficiencies, and while SIMAS continues excavation and pumping efforts, the overflow continues to affect transport workers, merchants, and motorists in the area.
