Infrastructure failures cause traffic chaos in Torre del Greco and Sorrento

Infrastructure issues are causing significant traffic disruptions and safety concerns in two Italian locations.

In Torre del Greco, traffic lights on via Curtoli have been non-functional for two weeks. This artery is a critical route for the high area of the city and is located near the Giovanni Paolo II school. The failure has disrupted the alternating two-way traffic system that was implemented in May 2024 to improve safety, leading to frustration among residents and motorists regarding potential accidents.

In Sorrento, the road leading to the port is experiencing severe congestion due to a structural issue. A section of a perimeter wall, damaged by falling trees near the former Hotel Le Terrazze, has created a bottleneck. This restriction affects thousands of daily commuters, shuttle buses, and tourists, causing long queues and paralyzing movement during peak hours.
