Salvador-Itaparica Bridge construction advances with central span expansion

Construction of the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge, which will connect Salvador to Vera Cruz in the Baía de Todos-os-Santos, has reached a new milestone. Engineering teams have installed 21 piles to serve as the foundation for platforms supporting the 682-meter central span.

The project is being executed through a public-private partnership (PPP) with an estimated total investment of R$ 11.6 billion. This includes R$ 3 billion from the federal government's New Growth Acceleration Program (PAC).

To assist in the construction of the central span, the Chinese vessel Tie Jian Da Qiao Zhuang 1, one of the world's largest pile-driving ships, is currently en route to Brazil. The vessel departed from the port of Lüsi in Jiangsu province and is expected to arrive to support the structural assembly.
