Infrastructure improvements underway in Moita and Saquarema
Infrastructure projects are underway to improve sanitation and water supply in Moita, Portugal, and Saquarema, Brazil.
In Moita, the municipal council is investing approximately 240,000 euros to rehabilitate wastewater and rainwater collectors in Vale da Amoreira. The project on Avenida 1.º de Maio utilizes modern rehabilitation techniques inside existing pipes, which avoids the need for large-scale trench excavation. This method is intended to minimize disruptions to traffic, local commerce, and residents.
In Saquarema, the concessionaire Águas do Rio, part of the Aegea group, has implemented approximately eight kilometers of water supply network in the Jaconé and Sampaio Corrêa neighborhoods. The expansion benefits roughly 6,700 people, providing piped water to 800 residents for the first time. The works, completed in August, were carried out along major routes including Avenida 1, RJ-118, and Avenida Beira-Mar.
