Infrastructure investments announced for education in Peru and medical services in Chile

In Peru, Pan American Silver Shahuindo has reached over 80% progress on the construction of the new Institución Educativa N.° 82314 in Araqueda, Cajamarca. The project, executed through a ‘Works for Taxes’ mechanism in agreement with the Cachachi District Municipality, represents an investment exceeding S/ 15.5 million. Once completed, the facility will serve more than 280 students and includes 12 classrooms, a library, a dining hall, and a covered sports court. The construction process has also provided employment opportunities for local residents, including women from the community.

In Chile, the Tarapacá Regional Council approved an investment of $1.125 million to improve the infrastructure of the SAMU Tarapacá emergency medical service. The project, managed by the Iquique Health Service and funded by the National Fund for Regional Development (FNDR), aims to address the deterioration of the building's interior and exterior, including electrical, sanitary, and climate control systems. Governor José Miguel Carvajal noted that the investment is essential to ensure that emergency teams have safe and functional spaces to operate.
