Infrastructure irregularities reported in Mexico and Colombia

In Mexico, independent deputy Enrique Correa Sada has accused the federal government of corruption and inefficiency following the collapse of a bridge in Tolimán, Querétaro. Correa Sada stated that the incident, along with other infrastructure issues such as delays on Federal Highway 57 and accidents related to the Mexico-Querétaro train construction, suggests a pattern of inadequate resource management and poor planning. He alleged that public contracts are being awarded to unqualified companies based on political connections rather than technical capacity.

In Colombia, Minister of Housing Jaime Andrés Beltrán reported irregularities in strategic water and sanitation projects in Riohacha, Buenaventura, and Ciénaga. A forensic audit revealed that despite significant disbursements, several projects show no execution progress. Specifically, in Riohacha, a 30 billion peso agreement for sewage and drainage works has undergone seven suspensions and multiple reformulations without delivering results, despite 3.6 billion pesos having been disbursed. The Minister announced that these findings will be turned over to investigative and control agencies to determine responsibility.
