Infrastructure maintenance causes power outages and construction delays in DR and Colombia
In the Dominican Republic, the Empresa de Transmisión Eléctrica Dominicana (ETED) has scheduled power outages for Wednesday, October 14, affecting at least 34 sectors across Puerto Plata and San Pedro de Macorís. The interruptions are necessary for maintenance and the replacement of deteriorated structures on two high-voltage transmission lines.
In Puerto Plata, work on the 69 kV Sosúa II–Sabaneta de Yásica line will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., impacting communities such as Sosúa, Cabarete, and various sectors including Charamicos and Playa Chiquita. In San Pedro de Macorís, maintenance on the 69 kV San Pedro I–Hato Mayor II line will occur from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., affecting numerous neighborhoods including Barrio Nuevo and Villa Progreso.
Meanwhile, in Bogotá, Colombia, heavy rainfall has temporarily halted the dismantling of a bridge at Carrera Séptima and Calle 100. The Instituto de Desarrollo Urbano (IDU) suspended work to ensure the safety of personnel regarding electrical equipment risks. Despite the weather, contractors successfully removed two 35-ton beams. The IDU intends to continue night shifts if weather conditions permit to minimize mobility impacts.
