Infrastructure maintenance causes road closures in Briona and on the A9 motorway

Several road and motorway closures are scheduled in northern Italy for infrastructure maintenance and safety works.

In Briona, the SP 17 provincial road will undergo a total 24-hour closure from September 28 until October 30, 2026. The closure is located at kilometer 13+480 near the bridge over the Oriace stream. The work, managed by Tecno Costruzioni, is required for urgent structural consolidation to ensure public safety. Alternative routes have been established via the SS 299 Novara/Alagna and SP 20 Fara-Barengo.

Additionally, night closures are planned on the A9 Lainate-Como-Chiasso motorway to allow for tunnel inspections and maintenance. Between Lago di Como and Como Centro, closures will occur on the nights of September 28, 29, and 30, as well as October 3 and 4. For the stretch between Como Centro and Chiasso, a closure is scheduled for the night of October 2 heading toward Switzerland. Drivers are advised to use local roads or follow designated diversions.
