Infrastructure maintenance causes transport disruptions in Hungary

Various infrastructure projects in Hungary are leading to significant traffic and public transport disruptions in Szeged and the Gödöllő HÉV line.

In Szeged, the Mátyás tér roundabout will be closed starting Monday due to water pipe reconstruction work by Szegedi Vízmű Zrt. on Szent Ferenc utca. The project, scheduled during the autumn break, will affect several bus lines, including the 20, 21, 24, 74, 74A, 74Y, 77, and 90. Affected bus routes will be diverted via Bécsi körút, Boldogasszony sugárút, and Bem utca, with temporary stops established at Bécsi körút 1 and 6 and on Bem utca.

Additionally, MÁV is conducting renovation works on the HÉV network between Mátyásföld alsó and Cinkota. The project involves replacing worn rails, concrete beds, and maintaining overhead systems to improve reliability and reduce speed restrictions. Until November 6, the H8 HÉV line will only operate between Cinkota and Gödöllő, while the H9 line will run between Cinkota and Csömör. Weekend and weekday service patterns for the H8 will also be modified, and pedestrian access at Mátyásföld alsó will be limited.
