Infrastructure maintenance underway in Matinhos and Barrocas
Local governments in Matinhos and Barrocas are conducting road maintenance and paving works to improve traffic safety and infrastructure.
In Matinhos, the Municipal Secretariat of Works is performing asphalt resurfacing on Avenida Maringá in the central region. The project aims to enhance circulation for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. However, officials noted that heavy rainfall in the Parana coast has hindered the progress of several scheduled works, as accumulated water affects soil preparation and asphalt application.
In Barrocas, the Secretary of Works and Infrastructure, Roque Loteba, participated in maintenance efforts on the road connecting the municipal headquarters to Alambique. Workers have been removing accumulated sand and filling potholes with concrete to reduce accident risks. The road lacks an adequate drainage system, causing sand from currents to wash onto the track and creating recurring pavement issues during rainy periods.
