Infrastructure neglect prompts citizen repairs in Mexico and Argentina

Residents in different regions are taking matters into their own hands to address severe road deterioration caused by neglected infrastructure.

In Lomas de Enmedio, Mexico, neighbors at the intersection of Ecuador and Manuel Corona streets have begun performing improvised repairs. Due to persistent potholes and standing water that have worsened over multiple municipal administrations, local youths are using shovels and dirt to fill holes and create drainage channels. Some individuals perform this labor in exchange for tips from passing motorists.

In La Plata, Argentina, residents of Calle 15 (between 66 and 67) have reported significant damage to vehicles caused by a large pothole. Local citizens noted that the crater has already caused broken tires and dented car bodies. There are growing concerns regarding the safety of motorists and public transport users, with residents calling for urgent government intervention to prevent more serious accidents.
