Infrastructure projects advance in Chile and Ecuador

Major infrastructure projects have commenced in Chile and Ecuador. In Chile, the Amdel Bridge project has entered the environmental evaluation phase following the submission of its Environmental Impact Study (EIA) to the Biobío Environmental Evaluation Service. The project features a 1.2 km viaduct over the Biobío River intended to connect Santa Juana and Hualqui via Talcamávida, including road improvements to link with existing routes like Ruta de la Madera and Ruta O-60.

In Ecuador, the government has begun construction on the first section (1A) of the Fifth Bridge project. This initial phase involves an investment of $134.8 million for a 1.2 km viaduct and four lanes. The complete project, estimated to cost approximately $1.4 billion, aims to connect Guayaquil with Durán, Naranjal, and Yaguachi. Once finished, expected in 2029, the infrastructure is designed to streamline port access by allowing heavy transport to bypass urban areas, significantly reducing travel times.
