USP to update Brazil's highway technical manuals

The University of São Paulo (USP), specifically the São Carlos School of Engineering (EESC), has entered into a partnership to revise and update the technical manuals for geometric highway design used by the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT).

This project aims to modernize the standards for evaluating topography, hydrology, geology, and geotechnics in road planning. The initiative, supported by the Foundation for the Increment of Research and Industrial Improvement (Fipai), is intended to improve road safety and support the national transport matrix, where approximately 65% of cargo is moved via highways.

Separately, various regional infrastructure projects are underway across Brazil, including the delivery of the Nova Perimetral in Mogi das Cruzes, revitalization efforts in Parobé, and paving requests in Colíder and Barrocas. Additionally, São Sebastião is working with EDP to implement electrical infrastructure in the Barreirinha community, and Peixoto de Azevedo is installing new traffic signals at critical intersections.
