Infrastructure projects advance in Numata and Machida

Various infrastructure and road improvement projects are underway in Japan. In Numata City, Gunma Prefecture, the Numata Civil Engineering Office is initiating ground improvement works for the National Route 120 Oito Section widening project. The work involves using the root pile method to reinforce soil and retaining walls over a 30-meter stretch to improve safety and visibility on a section known for sharp curves and icy conditions.

In Machida City, Tokyo, progress continues on the grade separation of the Odo level crossing near Aihara Station. The project, managed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, aims to convert the crossing into an underpass to improve traffic flow where Machida Kaido meets the JR Yokohama Line. Temporary road construction is proceeding on both the east and west sides of the crossing, with land acquisition rates reported at approximately 59% as of April 2026.
