Infrastructure projects advance in Santa Catarina, Brazil
In Florianópolis, the Companhia Catarinense de Águas e Saneamento (Casan) has begun the decommissioning and removal of an old water pipeline located on the Colombo Machado Salles Bridge. This follows the successful operation of a new R$ 12 million treated water pipeline installed on the Pedro Ivo Campos Bridge. The new 950-meter pipeline features a 700 mm diameter, increasing water transport capacity by 50% between the mainland and the island to serve Florianópolis, Palhoça, São José, Biguaçu, and Santo Amaro da Imperatriz.
In Joinville, construction has reached a complex stage for the Ponte Joinville, the city’s largest urban engineering project. Crews have begun constructing the main 160-meter span using the successive cantilever method. This process involves adding concrete segments to starter segments (aduelas de arranque) located in the Boa Vista and Adhemar Garcia neighborhoods, extending the structure outward in a T-shape to maintain balance until the two sides meet.
