Infrastructure projects advance in South Bohemia

Major road infrastructure projects are progressing in the South Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. In Tábor, construction has officially commenced on the southern bypass, a project nearly 3.7 kilometers long. The development, which has been in planning since the late 1980s, is funded primarily by the South Bohemian Region with a budget of 853 million CZK. The project aims to divert heavy truck traffic away from residential areas like Čelkovice and Maredova hora. The construction company M – Silnice expects to complete the work within approximately 42 months.

Simultaneously, a new section of the I/20 road between Pištín and České Vrbné is being opened to traffic. This phase of the four-lane bypass, which will eventually serve the municipalities of Dasná and Češnovice, will initially operate in a 1+1 mode with a speed limit of 70 km/h. This opening marks a significant milestone in the two-year construction process, with further work scheduled to complete the second half of the roadway and the grade-separated junction in Češnovice by the end of the year.
