Infrastructure projects begin in Bertem and Turnhout

Infrastructure projects are commencing in Bertem and Turnhout to improve road safety and urban accessibility.

In Bertem, the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer will begin work on the Tervuursesteenweg (N3) at the Gerzenstraat intersection starting August 24. The project aims to increase visibility for cyclists by adjusting the corner near the Bertem Vanhaerenstraat bus stop and creating a shaded zone to prevent parking. The Gerzenstraat connection to the Tervuursesteenweg will be closed for five days, with traffic managed via temporary lights and local detours for cyclists.

In Turnhout, redevelopment of Warandestraat begins on August 25. The project, scheduled for completion in December, seeks to transform the area into a safer center street with wider sidewalks, more greenery, and improved cycling facilities. The works coincide with the implementation of a new circulation plan, 'Binkenstad Bereikbaar'. During construction, through traffic will be diverted to the Ring (R13), and bus routes via De Lijn will be temporarily modified, utilizing alternative stops in Herentalsstraat, Otterstraat, and Merodelei.
