Infrastructure projects begin in Sint-Niklaas and Mol
Infrastructure improvements are commencing in Sint-Niklaas and Mol to enhance local accessibility and safety.
In Sint-Niklaas, works will begin on October 12 to widen and extend the access road serving MIWA and the Aquafin sewage treatment plant (RWZI). The project aims to separate heavy truck traffic from cyclists and visitors to the recycling park. Key features include a new neighborhood parking area, a two-lane path for cyclists connecting to the LAB school, and new traffic lights at the Aquafin entrance. The project also includes sewage upgrades in preparation for future work on the N403 road.
In Mol, NMBS has launched a 3.6 million euro project to extend the railway station's underpass. The extension will add 55 meters to the tunnel, connecting the Keirlandse Zillen parking area directly to the platforms via a new staircase and lift. This will eliminate the need for passengers to walk 500 meters to the Statiestraat pedestrian tunnel. Additional station upgrades include extending the platform canopy on platforms 2 and 3 by 30 meters and replacing existing lifts to improve accessibility. The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
