Infrastructure projects cause road closures across Germany
Various infrastructure projects across different regions in Germany are set to cause significant road closures and traffic diversions.
In the Flossenbürg area, construction on State Road 2154 between Flossenbürg and Waldkirch is scheduled to begin on October 7. The project aims to renew approximately 1.5 kilometers of damaged roadway, improve drainage, and reconstruct embankments. The work will involve a full closure of the road, divided into two phases: a five-to-six-week closure between Flossenbürg and Waldkirch, followed by a subsequent closure between Waldkirch and Georgenberg.
In the Grimma-Geithain region, the Kreisstraße 8331 between Leipnitz and Tanndorf will undergo a full closure starting around October 12. The Kommunalen Wasserwerke Grimma-Geithain (KWW) is replacing an aging drinking water pipe that dates back to the DDR era. The project involves laying 780 meters of new piping and is expected to be completed by the first week of December.
Additionally, several road closures and restrictions are reported in the Leipzig district. These include sewage pipe renovations in the Wurzen/Nischwitz area, drainage construction in Bad Lausick, and various weight and width restrictions on the B 2 highway near Zwenkau and Markkleeberg.
