Infrastructure projects face scrutiny in Brazil
In Cariacica, Brazil, construction of the Alto Lage underpass and viaducts has reached 65% completion. The project aims to improve mobility between Itacibá, Viana, Campo Grande, and Jardim América through excavations, soil containment, and structural preparation. While work progresses on drainage and marginal roads, certain sections remain closed for excavation and paving services.
In Araras, São Paulo, residents are questioning the capacity of a newly constructed bridge following heavy rains that brought water levels close to the structure. The project, which began in 2024, underwent design changes, delays, and a change in contractors in early 2025. Although the bridges are nearly finished, parts of the road remain closed, and locals are demanding technical clarifications regarding the structure's ability to handle intense rainfall and prevent flooding.
