Infrastructure projects in Villa Mella and Bogotá face updated timelines
In the Dominican Republic, construction for the Line 1 Metro expansion in Villa Mella will pause until January 2027. Jhael Isa, executive vice president of the Metropolitan Transport Company (EMT), stated that the entity is prioritizing approximately 448 million pesos in pending expropriation payments to avoid construction interruptions. The project is currently between 30% and 40% physically complete, with the first of two planned stations projected for delivery in December 2027.
In Colombia, Bogotá Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán announced a timeline for the Sena TransMilenio station, a critical connection point for the Bogotá Metro. The station is expected to be operational by December 2026, with the local viaduct scheduled for completion in January 2027. Following this, rail line construction is slated for February and March 2027, aiming for the final completion of the Metro station by June 2027. The construction consortium has committed to increasing its workforce by 1,500 people to expedite these works.
