Infrastructure projects to trigger road closures in Switzerland and Austria

Several infrastructure projects in Switzerland and Austria are set to cause significant road closures in late 2026.

In Wigoltingen, Switzerland, the Poststrasse will be closed starting October 5, 2026, due to utility and road renovations between Käsereistrasse and Bernrainstrasse. Motorized traffic will be diverted through November 2026. Additional construction stages are scheduled for 2027, with final surface work expected in spring 2028.

In Carinthia, Austria, the Katschberg Straße (B99) near the Lieserschlucht will undergo a full closure starting October 1, 2026, for approximately two months. The closure is necessary for the construction of the R9 regional cycling path, involving the installation of concrete slabs and micro-piles. Traffic will be released in stages, with one-way access toward Seeboden starting in December 2026, and full two-lane access expected by summer 2027.
