Gavio Group awarded 770 million euro Golden Gate Bridge contract
The Astm group, part of the Gavio family, has secured a contract valued at approximately 863.9 million dollars (770 million euros) to complete seismic retrofitting for the Golden Gate Bridge. The project will be executed through its American subsidiary, Halmar International.
The work aims to ensure the bridge remains safe and operational following a major earthquake, facilitating the rapid passage of emergency services. Planned interventions include reinforcing the north and south towers, strengthening side spans and support structures, and replacing seismic isolation joints. Additionally, 28 energy dissipation devices will be installed, and the upper portion of the south tower will undergo repainting.
The project is expected to be completed by September 2031. The Golden Gate Bridge, which spans 2.7 kilometers, carries approximately 95,000 vehicles daily.
