Infrastructure projects underway in Rohrdorf and Wiener Neustadt

In Rohrdorf, Germany, local officials celebrated the start of construction for a new pedestrian and bicycle underpass beneath the A8 motorway. The project aims to resolve a long-standing safety issue where pedestrians and cyclists were restricted to a narrow 70 to 80 centimeter strip separated by a concrete wall. The new tunnel is intended to provide a safer route for schoolchildren and cyclists between Rohrdorf and Thansau.

In Wiener Neustadt, Austria, a new bicycle path connecting Hubertusgasse and Lachtengasse has been completed in the Breitenauer settlement. The project, costing approximately 120,000 euros, included modernizing street lighting and installing additional drainage swales. This development is part of a broader cycling offensive in the city, which allocates roughly 500,000 euros annually to expand and improve cycling infrastructure.
